Leftazim-2.5gm

Ceftazidime 2gm + Avibactam sodium 0.5g Injection

LEFTAZIM 2.5GM (Ceftazidime + avibactam sodium) is a combination medication used in the treatment of certain bacterial infections. Ceftazidime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, while avibactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Together, they work synergistically to combat multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.

Avibactam inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes, which are produced by some bacteria to break down beta-lactam antibiotics like ceftazidime. By blocking these enzymes, avibactam allows ceftazidime to remain effective against bacteria that would otherwise be resistant to it.

LEFTAZIM 2.5GM combination of ceftazidime and avibactam sodium is typically used to treat complicated urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis) and intra-abdominal infections. It may also be used for hospital-acquired pneumonia and ventilator-associated pneumonia caused by susceptible bacteria.

As with any medication, ceftazidime/avibactam sodium may have side effects, which can include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, rash, and infusion site reactions. It’s important to follow the prescribed dosage and duration of treatment as directed by your healthcare provider.

Please note that while I strive to provide accurate and up-to-date information, it’s always best to consult a healthcare professional or pharmacist for specific medical advice or concerns about your individual situation.
